Used 2018 Ford Expedition Limited

The Expedition comes in standard-length and extended-length Expedition Max form. Three different trims are available: XLT, Limited, and Platinum. All Expeditions are powered by a 3.5L Ecoboost V6 engine enhanced by two turbochargers. The engine can deliver 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. The sole transmission is a brand new 10-speed automatic offered in both rear-wheel and 4-wheel drive that still offer an astounding 16 mpg city and 24 mpg highway when in 4x4 form.

The Expedition has a tough, military-grade aluminum chassis for long-term durability in towing and hauling situations. It also has an independent rear suspension, which helps give it a better ride than many other truck-based SUVs. Variable-boost power steering also improves maneuverability. The 10-speed automatic transmission has smaller steps between gears than the commonly used 4-speed automatic and offers improved shift quality, faster acceleration and improved fuel economy. Ford's exclusive AdvanceTrac with RSC is now joined by standard Trailer Sway Control and the two systems work together to detect trailer sway and apply precise braking or reduce engine torque as needed. The Expedition can tow up to 9,200 pounds when properly equipped.

Both XLT and Limited models feature three rows of seating and the second row is available either in a 40/20/40-split bench or two captain's chairs. On the Max, the third row is not only roomier but easier to access, thanks to large rear doors. Both rows of seats fold flat with the touch of a button. The Max is nearly 15 inches longer than the standard-length model and rides on a wheelbase that is a foot longer. This translates into even more cargo space than the standard-length model.

Standard safety equipment includes seat-mounted front side air bags with head-protecting Safety Canopy side-curtain air bags. These features are part of Ford's Personal Safety System, which includes seat belt pre-tensioners, load limiting retractors, driver seat position sensing, crash severity sensing, SecuriLock Passive Anti-Theft System, Ford's SOS Post Crash Alert System, tire pressure monitoring system and traction control.

Standard equipment includes an anti-theft perimeter alarm system, power driver seat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, reverse sensing parking system, rear air conditioning and traction and stability control.

The Limited trim includes Ford's SYNC system and a hands-free automated liftgate, leather heated and ventilated bucket seats, dual-zone climate control, SYNC3 Enhanced Voice Recognition infotainment system, 20-inch aluminum wheels, and even a WIFI hotspot. Also included are, SiriusXM satellite radio, leather seating and dual 10-way power-adjustable front seats.

The Platinum trim offers luxurious features like, a Panoramic Vista Roof, a voice-activated navigation system, power 3rd row power folding seats, a B&O Premium audio system with 12-speakers, Smart-Charging Multimedia USB ports, wireless charging hubs for smart phones and even Apple Carplay and Android Auto.

Options across the lineup include a rear load-leveling suspension, a dual-headrest DVD player, second-row heated bucket seats, 3rd-row power folding headrests, 10-way power driver and passenger seats, intelligent access with push-button start, a heated steering wheel and a heavy-duty tow package amongst many others.

Much Improved Fuel Economy.

The 2018 Expedition has been re-designed from top to bottom and now shares aluminum chassis construction with the Ford F-150. This nearly sheds 300 pounds from the outgoing model. Additionally, gas mileage predictably has improved as well as a much steeper peak power and torque curve for even more ease towing. To go along with all the hardware and improved chassis is an all new interior that better conforms closer to the F-150 while offering new advanced safety features like adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, automatic high beams, lane-keeping assist and alert and collision warning and mitigation.

The 2018 Expedition continues to be Ford's largest full-size SUV. It stands out for its combination of smooth ride and quiet interior comfort, with full-size-truck hauling ability. The Expedition's 9,200-pound tow capacity when equipped with an optional Heavy-Duty trailering package makes it the best in its class.
