How to Program Chevy Key Fob

If you’ve just purchased a Chevrolet truck, and you don’t know how to program a Chevy key fob, you are not alone! There are many Logan-area drivers who recently purchased a Chevy pickup truck, and they’re not sure how to get the most out of the convenience of the Chevy key fob. At Truck Ranch, we’re ready to help! View step-by-step instructions for Chevy key fob programming below.

Chevy Key Fob Programming: A Step-by-Step Guide

Once you have the Chevy remote start key fob that you need to program in your hand, follow these steps below:

  1. Manually unlock your car door using your Chevy key.
  2. Make sure that all of the car doors are fully shut, then insert the key into the ignition. Do not start the car.
  3. Press and hold the unlock button on the driver’s side door, then turn your key to the “On” position. The interior lights and radio will come on, but the engine should not be ignited.
  4. Turn the key back to the “Off” position, then turn it to “On” and right back to “Off” once again in quick succession (On – Off – On – Off).
  5. Release the unlock button.
  6. Once you’ve released the unlock button, you should hear the door locks engage and disengage, this tells you that the programming sequence can begin.
  7. On your Chevy key fob, press and hold the “Unlock” and “Lock” buttons at the same time until you hear the door locks engage and disengage again to indicate that you have successfully programmed your key fob.
  8. Re-insert the newly programmed key into the ignition in the “On” position to end the programming sequence.

Whether you have a Chevy Malibu key fob or a Chevy Silverado key fob, these simple steps will help you program your Chevy key fob. Don’t hesitate to contact us if you get stuck along the way.
